Starfish under water

                                                                         BIOME

Biome is a major ecological community type that consist of 5 Biome's; Forest, Tundra, Marine, Grassland and Desert. Forests Biome are important as they're habitat to the most diverse biotic communities in the entire world. Marine Biome regions cover about three-fourths of the earth's surface and that also include oceans, coral reefs, and estuaries. Deserts Biome wrap about one fifth of the earth's surface and occur where rainfall is less than 50 cm/year, they're also described to have low precipitation, large rate of evaporation, and daily wide range of temperature . Grasslands Biome are labeled as lands that is dominated by grasses rather than large plants and trees. Grasses can survive fires because they grow from the bottom instead of the top and the soil of most grasslands is also too thing and dry for trees to survive. The Tundra is found along arctic coastal areas. It is found to be very cold low diversity, simple vegetation short growing season.

What Biome can be found in Thailand?

On my vacation to there, Thailand biome's are filled with Ocean, Seas, and Lakes. From MeKong River to the Peninsular Malaysian lowland and mountain forest, and the MeKong River is the longest river from the south-east Asia.  Thailand contains a abundant amount of distinct biome's.

                           Asteroidea
                               Starfish, Scientific name

Like, mister Patrick Star, Star fish are star shaped animals that live in the bottom of the sea. Their family name is "Enchinoderm", which includes: Brittle Stars, Sea Urchins, Sea Cucumbers, and Sea Stars. The Star fish's mouth is in the middle of its body and its eyes are in the end of his legs. It can grow up to 24 legs, and in order for these cute critters to walk; it has small tubes like sticky pads which help it walk along rocks and sands.  The Starfish habitat live mainly on the bottom of the sea but it also lives in the small holes left by other creatures in rocks and coral reefs. The second main place to find is on coral because the starfish nearly or sometimes eats it.

Starfish Diet:

  •
  •                          Barnacles
  •                          Urchins
  •                          Chitons
  •                          Snails
  •                          Limpets
  •                          Sponges
  •                          Sea Anemones

Cool Facts:
When they lose an arm, it can grow back and when their eating, the sea star may turn its stomach inside out to reach into the shell of its prey. Star fish can actually pull open a shell. If it finds a mussel they open it up and eat the insides, they do the same with shellfish and scallops. Star fish mostly eats molluscs but it eats sponges, corals, and even sea worms. If a Star fish finds a piece of food, like a mussel, it sends off food signals, and, soon all of the star fishes that got the message come and start fighting over the food, like a flock of aggravating seagulls with fish or some other creature.

Threats:

Predators such as birds, sea otters and humans usually collects them.

and also if a mussel or a clam that a Star fish eats is sick or dead the Star Fish may die and it's very lucky if it lives.

                         Laminariales

 Kelp, Scientific Name

Kelp is in the Pacific Ocean, commonly known to be near Western Australia, Japan, Mexico, and California. Kelp progress in icy cold water with lots of waves or strong current; which brings nutrients to the Kelp for its undoubtedly survival. This plant has a greenish-brown color that can grow more than 150 feet tall, it has many leaves, called 'Blades', which are shaped like swords.

 Cool Facts:

Kelp is a group of large sea algae that is commonly known as Seaweed. Kelp is part of the brown family in the order of Laminariales, they grow in shallow, underwater oceanic forests. Some can grow over a foot a day and reach up to 250 ft. Kelp is a really nutritious plant to eat and is a common food in Japan, they use it in salads, soups, and sushi, plus it can also help people with illnesses to feel better, make your hair grow and may prevent cancer. The extracts from kelp and other seaweeds are used in toothpaste, ice cream and shampoo.

Threats: Algin a substance extracted from Kelp is an emulsifier that is added to salad dressings, ice cream, tooth paste, cosmetics and hundreds of other products out there. Kelp plants are in high demands and are forever increasing. Also, global warming are gradually increasing and for the Kelp's to survive it can only occur in cold water, where the temperature stays at between 50-65 degree, increases in the temperature will resentfully affect the Kelp forest, endangering its existence. Human activities, Greenhouses are some of the causes that is causing majority of the lively-hoods of Kelps.
